Day 2 of completely Mixed feelings.

  • Aug. 28th, 2007 at 8:13 PM

Oh, escuela. Thank you for teaching me, oh so much.

Anyway, now that I've made a fool of myself, let's speak of my wonderful 2nd day of school.
Wonderful being the operative word here... I mean it was great in some aspects... but in others... eh.

First, my puppy (he's cute and everything but... ugh) woke me up 10 minutes before my alarm went off. Complete bummer but whatever. Then I had to wake up earlier than yesterday anyway because I had to not only take Olivia to school but Samantha too! Ugh. Soooo I did my thing picked them up drove them to school then lurked around the hallways. I got to see my bestie Steph who I have no classes with (dammit) which was awesome. <br>

Choir- Okay well, today was fun. We started learning one of the songs we'd be singing for the fall concert- it's a medley that has all sorts of tennessee folk music. I'm an alto, I admit it, though there are many girls in my class that are, but try to be soprano's anyway. I find myself singing alone in this class also- very disappointing that people can't listen to Mr. Talley (who is HILARIOUS) on when we need to start singing. Oh well. I love this class. :]

Algebra 2- We have one of those "active boards" but we called them "smart boards" in middle school. they're really cool and I feel very high tech for using them. However, they do not make me any better at algebra, which is really what I need.  Oh well, I'm trying.

Study Hall- Last day to talk freely- tomorrow we have to buckle down and get to work. Bummer. Basically, I talked to Lindsey the entire period. :]

Alpha- Turned in papers. Listened to two really dumb people bitch about really dumb things. Very boring.

Sociology- ACK!! I'm flat out in LOVE with this class. I enjoy it so much and the teacher is freaking awesome. I hope she likes me as much as I love her because I seriously hope she'll write me a college reccommendation for me at some point!

Chem- I made friends with a sophomore so maybe I'll actually have a lab partner. 2 quizzes in there tomorrow. whoopee!

Lunch- I talked to Anna Grace about choir the entire freaking time. hahaha. Oh and tara came by and I wished her a happy happy birthday!

English 3 AP- OH MY GOD. Timed writing gave me a major headache and I think mine was terribly written. ugh. I hate Hawthorne!

APUSH- The teacher is sweet. I think of prehistoric animals when I see her though. Anyway, we got our books and now I need to go read ch. 1 or "skim" it as she put it.
Then start ch. 2 so I'll be ready for Thursday's quiz.

I only had to take Olivia home which was great- less hassle!!

That was about it- the only drama is samantha's rudeness about the specifications on which I can take her to school. very annoying, but whatever. :] I'm not sure to be excited about school or to just be like "eff school!" there's no class I really hate yet... alg.2 is getting there though. :/

First day of Junior year.

  • Aug. 27th, 2007 at 6:24 PM

So, today was actually pretty great... minus the massive workload that is looming over my head- I know it's going to happen... therefore I am nervous.

Let's start with before school.
My alarm goes off at 6:38. Don't ask why, that's just what it is. I get up, I do my morning routine and I go pick Olivia up at 7:10. We get to school and almost immediately go our separate ways- which by the way, I do not see her OR GraceLang at all during the day and it completely depresses me- and I hung out with Anna Grace this morning- which was awesome.
Michelle C.'s backpack hit the fire alarm before school which completely amused me. Poor girl, she was so embarrassed, but we fixed it and she didn't get in trouble at all. It was great seeing all these people again and it made me smile.
So, my Alpha group is on third floor aqua.
What the hell?
My school has two floors in every hall (it goes by colors in case you didn't notice) and then there is aqua that goes to a third floor. The third floor is hardly ever properly air conditioned and it's a pain in the ass to get up to. Luckily all my classes are close together though so it's not THAT much of a pain. But that's later on. I get to my alpha class and my friend samantha (commonly referred to as "ramirez) and another friend Sami (okay, it's more like acquaintance) are in there so I had a little chat with them whilst we did what I call the "first day of school ritual" and you know what, I'm going to make this easier to read.

Early morning alpha- there we go. Anyway, my alpha is alright. We do the "ritual" and finally (oh my LORD, it took forever) get our schedules. Nothing with either Ramirez or sami so I'm pretty bummed and then it turns out I have freaking B lunch at stupid 1 today (usually it's at 12 30 which you wouldn't think makes much difference, but it really does) and seriously, a majority of the school has A lunch so I have like, 3 friends- however that's later on in this lovely tale.

1st period- This is Women's Choir with Mr. Talley who I have good reason to believe is gay. He is an absolute gem though and it seems like it's going to be a fun class. The trip for all choirs this year is a cruise to Mexico over spring break. Let me go ahead and just say HELL YES. I hope my parents let me go. Anyway, I made friends with a little ditzy freshman girl because I'm sweet like that. I'm taking on my "Mustang Mentors" role a little early, who cares. She looked so nervous though, I don't think anyone could NOT feel sorry for her. So yes, we got little binders for our music and stuff. I think I'm going to be Anna Grace's assistant (she is an officer- treasurer)- at least she wants me to be, which I'd happily do. I think I'm going to get really into choir. I'm definitely staying in for next year. Performing Arts hall- I think between this class and 2nd period is my longest walk- PA to Blue which is like 5 halls ahahah.

2nd Period- This is Algebra 2 PreAP with Mrs. Massey. Before this I showed the little freshman where her class is- near mine. Anyway, Mrs. Massey I had my freshman year for Algebra 1 and she is absolutely amazing. I love her. She is a great teacher and she loves me already so I'm pretty pumped. Plus, I like algebra. A lot of sophomores in this class though, oh well. At least I have Genta!!! :] There is a Freshman in front of me though which is completely embarrassing- I feel like an idiot. Maybe I am, who knows. This is in Blue hall and right next door to my next class... literally.

3rd Period- This is my Junior Study Hall. So many great people are in this class- Kacey, Michelle C., Julia, Lindsey- eeekkk! I love them all. The teacher seems pretty nice but strict. She is letting us talk for the next few days though- which is good because we won't want to do anything in there quite yet. hahaha. I'm glad this is right after math, that way I can get that stuff done. Again, blue hall- right next to aqua which is the next hall over- and my 2nd-4th periods are all 2nd floor hurray!

4th Period- This is Sociology with Ms. Griffin. Oh my God, she's canadian and sooo interesting. She is very intellectual and knows what she's talking about. It was a lot of fun despite a bunch of seniors in there considering it a "blow off" class. It really isn't though, which is what is so exciting about it. :]

5th Period- This is Chem 1 PreAP with Mrs. Lowerre (Pronounced Lowry) with a bunch of sophomores and no juniors except me and this other creepy kid. Sigh, must make friends with sophomores fast. Seems like it's going to be okay... but I know it'll suck.

B lunch- monkey butt. hahaha I eat with Samantha winkleman though (who apparently I am now giving a ride to school too.) and some friends I had in middle school/elementary school which is nice because I wanted to catch up with them. :]

6th Period- This is English 3 AP with Mrs. Kohlmaier who had my sister her freshman and junior years. She's super nice. Sad thing is, is that tomorrow we already have a timed writing. Ugh, I haven't written for academic reasons all summer so I'm nervous about how bad it's going to be. Oh well, she seems forgiving. It's going to be a hard year.

7th Period- This is US.History AP (Soon going to be referred to APUSH I'm sure) I have it with Mrs. Strawman. Regan is in this class and English so I sit with her. So is Anna Grace- it's a pretty good class. Omg, so is DOUG!! Ack! I love him. anyway the teacher seems nice enough. I am really excited for this class- I LOVE US. HISTORY!!!!!! so yeah!
Then, I drove Olivia home and went to Office Depot where I saw everyone and their dog seriously. Anyway, it was weird I saw a bunch of kids I hadn't seen since middle school... it was kind of nice, a bit awkward. haahha.

Anyway I need to read some stuff for APUSH. That was my day! :]

Like a bad movie

  • Aug. 24th, 2007 at 2:42 PM

Well I had forgotten I had this and for some reason I'm really missing putting my feelings out publicly on the internet so here it is, folks.

Last night I went to bed around midnight in hopes of catching up on some sleep- no such luck. I ended up finishing one of my two summer reading books- "The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton.
It was a good book but didn't capture me like I'm sure it would have if I were living in Wharton's time. I'm glad Newland stayed with his wife. That's all I'm going to say.

I need to finish the Scarlet Letter and then read the Sparknotes on it. Why the Sparknotes too, you ask? Well, as it seems, I'm not getting it. It's a really good book but I am apparently not picking up on as much as Hawthorne had intended me to (Oh, I thought I had it, but Olivia told me I didn't). After I post this, I think I'll go ahead and try to finish it. I have like 15 more chapters, but they're short so I should be fine.

Today I went to the SPCA for the third time this week. Very fun, as usual- because puppies are amazing... except when they poop- then they're not so fun. But, anyway, I really like going there and Olivia wants to go to the telethon they're having tomorrow but I just don't want to. It'll be too crowded and seriously, that's too much for me. The puppy room gets filled up enough as it is, why would I want to be there when there are like thousands of others?

I'm getting my haircut tomorrow instead... I know that sounds horrible, but I really did spend a LOT of time at the SPCA this week. And overall, really. I've already done thirty hours of service out of the three months I've been there. I just need a break. So, tomorrow I think I'll go to the store and then go get my haircut and then have Mo come over to spend the night. I think I'll try and pick my room up a little too... but I probably won't.

Then Sunday I have to take her home before one so I can go to the Mustang Mentors meeting at one at school. I'm still so shocked to be accepted into the program. I really thought I wouldn't make it. Like, before this summer I didn't really do anything anywhere. Well, Freshman year I did a bunch of stuff for MMOB (The community outreach program at my school) but like, Sophomore year I did diddly squat. Oh, wait, at the beginning of the year, I did do a little but like, very little- only a few hours. I also only did 3 hours in FLUFFS freshman year (Fun Loving Union of Freshman Females I believe) and I didn't help SAMMS (Sophomore Admirers of the Memorial Mustang I think) at all Sophomore year so yeah. I just didn't think my lack of helping out in the community (because I turned in this application before I was accepted into the SPCA and before I spent like, all summer there) would make me qualified to be a Mustang Mentor. I'm really happy to be one and I'm pretty pumped about this year.

Ah, crud I want to get my hair done differently but I have no idea how to get it. I shall ask Mo's opinion later- because she knows best. hahaha.

Au Revoir!
-Anne
